As a brand that has sustainability at its heart, and as a supplier to Woolworths, Elgin Free Range Chickens (EFRC) needed to replace diesel with PV solar and batteries to stabilize their power, reduce their carbon footprint and protect themselves against hefty Eskom tariff escalations.

Working with RenEnergy Africa, Broadreach Energy supplies solar power to three EFRC sites to date, financing the project through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with a saving of 30% to 40% compared to Eskom prices. This meant the EFRC did not have to commit ay capital expenditure upfront, and it knows Broadreach Energy is in it for the long haul.
