    Broadreach Energy Staff | Operations Administrator

    Ilse De Bruyn brings a diverse and dynamic background to the Broadreach Energy team, with extensive experience in technical procurement, supply chain management, and operations. Her career began in customer care at Vodacom, where she developed strong business communication skills and gained exposure to finance, training and quality assurance.

    In 2013, she transitioned into technical procurement, working in the HVAC, and Marine Refrigeration industries before moving into the renewable energy sector in 2020. At SMA Solar Technologies, she was key in optimising service operations, overseeing health & safety, training engineers, and managing key customer relationships. Her contributions to process implementation within the Service Department continue to be used today.

    Within her new role at Broadreach, Ilse applies her expertise to ensure the seamless execution of solar projects, gaining insight into the financial, technical and compliance aspects of the industry. Passionate about sustainability, she is driven by the opportunity to contribute to the growth of renewable energy solutions.

    Outside of work, Ilse is a dedicated musician, a creative in the culinary arts, and an avid reader with a strong interest in human and social psychology.

    Sabrina Strauss

    Broadreach Energy Staff | Renewable Energy Engineer

     

    Holding a degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, Sabrina firmly believes in the power of sustainable solutions to address South Africa’s energy crisis and environmental concerns. Her excitement is fueled by the abundant sunlight available in the region, offering a wealth of solar energy potential. Moreover, Sabrina is inspired by the continuous advancements in renewable energy technology, rendering these sources increasingly efficient and cost-effective.
    Beyond her professional pursuits, Sabrina’s interests span the spectrum of creativity, from sewing to drawing.  She also finds joy in the outdoors, exploring Cape Town’s picturesque landscapes, whether it’s hiking in the mountains or strolling along sandy beaches.

    Martin Wilken

    Broadreach Energy Staff | Technical Operations

     

    National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Digital Technology), SAPICS PPIM certificate  (Principles of Production & Inventory Management)

    Martin has 15+ years SAP R/3 Super User experience in the Logistics and Demand Planning space. He has an electronics background with circuit board design and fault-finding experience. Furthermore, his exposure includes extensive experience in data analytics and advanced reporting, and he enjoys applying a creative approach to new projects. Martin recently started applying his combined experience to the Solar Energy industry: he has been analysing customer data and simulated Solar PV designs for the last 7 months.

    Martin holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Digital Technology) and a SAPICS PPIM (Principles of Production & Inventory Management) certificate.

    Alison Nesbitt

    Broadreach Energy Staff | Head of Finance

    Alison Nesbitt, our Head of Finance, holds a Bachelor of Business Science majoring in Finance and Accounting, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, and is a qualified CA(SA).

    Her professional journey, since her qualification in 2013, has been diverse. Spending six years in Corporate Finance, specialising in transaction advisory services, she gained insights into a broad range of businesses, from family enterprises to the listed sector. In 2020, she pivoted into commerce as the Head of Finance at a software development company, focusing on internal financial operations, policy enhancement, team building, and financial insights. While her background isn’t in renewables, Alison’s adaptability from her varied experiences positions her to make impactful contributions in this dynamic field.

    Beyond the numbers, Alison finds balance through exercise, quality time with friends and family, and getting lost in captivating books. Recently, she has started playing Padel, foreseeing it as a newfound favourite activity.

    For Alison, the appeal of renewable energy lies in the depth of its impact. She sees renewable energy as a dual force – making our environment cleaner and providing crucial support to local businesses in the face of challenges like load shedding. Being part of a movement with such far-reaching positive consequences is an exciting prospect.

    Chantál Hugo

    Broadreach Energy Staff | Head of Operations

    Chantál Hugo has been working in Financial Services and heading up operational areas within large Corporates for over 25 years. She currently specialises in the operations management of the new joint venture between Broadreach and Capital Box. Her extensive experience in administration, billing and liability management along with her great management skills and focus on process efficiency and quality, make her an asset to the team. Her passion is ensuring that the customers’ needs are exceeded wherever possible.

    Sibusiso Motaung

    Broadreach Energy Staff | Senior Project Engineer

    Sibusiso is an experienced Electrical Engineer with over 15 years of expertise in industrial plant projects, power distribution systems and renewable energy solutions. He holds an Electrical Engineering qualification from Vaal University of Technology, a Project Management certification from North West University, and is a registered Professional Technologist (Pr. Tech) with ECSA.

    Throughout his career, Sibusiso has worked extensively in the power and mining sectors, designing and implementing projects at Eskom power stations (Matla and Kriel), major mining operations, including Sibanye Stillwater and Anglo American, and industrial sites such as Ardagh Glass. His expertise spans industrial electrical systems, power cabling, protection relay programming and commissioning of new equipment.

    Angelique van Wyk

    Angelique brings over 12 years of financial expertise to the Broadreach Energy team, with a strong background in managing financial operations, optimizing costing strategies, and ensuring financial control across diverse industries.

    She holds a National Diploma in Financial Information Systems, combining financial acumen with a solid understanding of technology-driven processes. Her experience spans roles such as Junior Accountant, Account Manager, and Cost Accountant, serving sectors ranging from insurance and entertainment to refrigeration services and now, renewable energy.

    Angelique is passionate about the global impact of renewable energy, driven by its ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a sustainable future. Her work supports the operational strength and financial integrity that power Broadreach’s long-term impact.

    When she’s not refining numbers, Angelique enjoys spending time in nature, especially on the West Coast, where she finds peace in the outdoors and connection with loved ones.

    Ayabulela Xongo

    Ayabulela is a dynamic Finance Intern at Broadreach Energy, bringing a strong foundation in BCom Accounting. He finds inspiration in renewable energy’s potential to alleviate the country’s energy crisis – a crucial factor for business resilience and investor confidence in South Africa. His passion for finance, strategic thinking, and dedication to sustainable solutions make him a valuable contributor to Broadreach Energy’s mission of driving positive change in the energy sector. Beyond his professional commitment, he enjoys online chess and coding, reflecting his strategic acumen.

    Markus Dupreez

    Markus has specialized as a renewable energy developer and funder since 2020 and has an extensive track record in provider client’s solution with reliable and affordable energy solutions. Markus holds a B. Com Law and an M. Com in Business Management. He has over 20 years of experience in Business development working capital raising, asset-based finance, leverage, and private equity finance. His work experience includes General Manager Corporate at Land and Agricultural Bank of South Africa as well as Vice President for an Africa focused private equity fund based in Mauritius. He is passionate about providing funding solutions for growing companies. Markus has a focus on energy efficiencies for small to large corporate customers looking for sustainable solutions and a reduction of their dependence on utilities.
